CSOS National Army Museum, London

The 50th Anniversary Combined Services Orthopaedic Conference was held at the remarkable National Army Museum, Chelsea, London.

This two day conference incorporated trainee presentations on day one and day two explored the history of the society with some excellent guest speakers. This conference also had concession tickets for medical students, foundation doctors and GDMOs, which allowed for fantastic engagement from non-trainees. There was also incredible engagement from international military clinicians, further strengthening bonds and ties between partner nations.

The CSOS dinner was held at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, offering a beautiful backdrop to the 50th anniversary celebrations.

Prizes were awarded for the best presentations:

  • The Peter Templeton Prize for the best presentation was awarded to Major Charles Handford RAMC for his work on “Ten Years of Direct Skeletal Fixation for Military Veterans: An overview of Outcomes”

  • The Philip Fulford Prize for the best quick-fire presentation was awarded to Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Louise McMenemy RN for her presentation entitled “Orthopaedic theatre radiation protection provision: Is it adequate?”

  • The Mike McErlain Travelling Fellowship was awarded to Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Louise McMenemy RN. She will be hosted in Sydney, Australia and Brisbane Australia in 2025.
